By following the advice in this post you will have a renewed sense of how to succeed and take charge of your life. Feel inspired to work relentlessly towards your goals, leaving no room for excuses.
Is your lethargy and lack of action really getting to you? Do you feel stuck in your mind? And why are you allowing your distractions to hijack your life? This is how to succeed. Your time is now.
Let’s start with the truth, raw and unfiltered. Procrastination is the black hole of productivity, a glittering candy store of distractions. Your future self isn’t a mythical unicorn that will suddenly manifest the drive to get things done. Today’s YOU is the warrior you need.
How Do We Tackle The Common Excuses We Tell Ourselves
“I’m too busy.” “I’m not ready.” “I’m not good enough.” Sound familiar? These excuses are like chameleons, changing colors to blend into our daily lives, but they’re nothing more than the fear of failure in disguise.
So, how do you tackle these sneaky beasts and how do you succeed?
Excuse 1: “I’m Too Busy”
Overcommitted, or just sidestepping priorities? Let’s lay it bare, time isn’t an indulgent gift; it’s a commodity. And just like any commodity, it warrants effective management. Take Sara Blakely for instance. She’s the mastermind behind Spanx, a self-made billionaire, and a mother. She’s juggling product development, corporate leadership, marriage and kids. If Blakely can engineer undergarments while running an empire and raising a family, you can certainly handle your to-do list. Prioritize, delegate, and embrace the power of ‘no’.
It’s time for you to CREATE.
Excuse 2: “I’m Not Ready”
You’re not good enough, you say? Rubbish! You’re not a half-baked muffin. You’re a fully-fledged, capable woman. Doubt is the dream-crusher, the nemesis of potential. So, chin up, shoulders back. You’re more than enough, and it’s high time YOU BELIEVE it.
The 3 Steps to Escape Self-Doubt
So, how do you escape this quagmire of self-doubt and inaction? Enter the art of excuse-busting. A three-step dance to shatter those excuses once and for all.
1. Acknowledge
Recognize the excuse for what it is. A speed bump, not a stop sign. It’s a hurdle to leap over, not a brick wall to crash into.
2. Challenge
Question the validity of your excuse. Is it factual, or just a spooky ghost story you’re telling yourself? Spoiler alert: it’s usually the latter.
3. Act
Buckle up, here’s where the rubber meets the road. Take a step, no matter how small. As I always say, “Action Precedes Confidence, and Confidence Silences Excuses”. Err yes that’s my mantra.
Start Small, If You Must, But START
Remember, every excuse is a choice to not progress. We’ve all been there, stuck in the whirlwind of self-doubt and second-guessing. Now it’s time to blow away the clouds of hesitation and let your determination shine through.
Start small, if you must, but START. An inch forward is better than a mile backward. It’s the compound effect of these small steps, done consistently that creates momentum, which will propel you towards your goal. You are stronger than you think, capable of more than you imagine.
All you need to do is silence the murmuring excuses and tune into taking action. This is how to succeed.
Remember, your time is NOW. And if not now, then when? In The next 3, 5 or never years? You’ve got the potential, the passion. What you need to do now is take that first step and let go of the “what if’s,” and embrace the “what could be’s.”
My Nugget of Wisdom
Reflecting on these words from Dr. Wayne Dyer, “You are not stuck where you are unless you decide to be.” I’ve found myself wrapped in a cloak of excuses many times, resisting the call to action. But then I actively have to choose not to be ‘stuck’, not to be a prisoner of my self-made circumstances. I realize the power to break free is within me, waiting to be released. Just as it is within you.
Isn’t it about time you stopped with your excuses and started pursuing your vision? You are more than capable, and deserving of the success that’s waiting for you just around the corner.
