Let’s face it; we’ve all been there. Have you ever felt like a fraud, waiting for someone to pull back the curtain and expose your lack of ability? This is the infamous imposter syndrome, the insidious whisper that convinces you that you’re less than you are.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Even the most successful women have experienced these debilitating doubts and often. Do they let it stop them moving forwards? No, they do not. So, why should you?
Next on our list of mental roadblocks is the fear of failure. The fear that keeps you from leaping into the unknown, from taking risks, from daring to dream and making it a reality. But what if you could reframe failure? What if instead of a dead-end, failure was just a detour?

1. Words Have Power
The right words can inspire, empower, and transform. The way you speak to yourself and the actual words you use can transform how life works out for you. So be very mindful of the words you use regularly and if need be then use incantations or affirmations, saying them in the car, or whilst you’re making dinner. Believe those words. Feel them. Embody them.
2. Visualization
Picture your success. Regularly. We all visualize differently. Some like to speak into their phone’s voice recorder and listen to it, others close their eyes and paint pictures in their mind, whilst others like to write it all down in a journal in one sweep aka ‘morning pages’. Whichever tool you use the magic is in doing it consistently Really feeling it and believing it. Notice the vibe when you do it. See yourself overcoming obstacles, reaching your goals. See it, smell, taste it. Your mind can’t distinguish between reality and imagination. So, make it believe in your success. And do it often.
3. Gratitude
Practice gratitude. It shifts your focus from what you lack to what you have, cultivating a positive mindset and fostering resilience. The universe will give you more of that which it thinks you can handle so focus on what you have and appreciate that. This will shift your energy to hope and action. From that positive state anything is possible.
4. Learn From Failure
Treat failure as a stepping stone, not a stumbling block. Learn from it, grow from it. Remember, the most beautiful flowers bloom through the cracks.
As you journey through midlife, the road may seem daunting. But remember, the only thing standing between you and your vision is your mindset. Once you conquer your mental roadblocks, there’s nothing that can stop you.
The power lies within you. Get started, don’t leave it for tomorrow because tomorrow never comes.

My Nugget Of Wisdom
Let’s get real. I’ve struggled with those relentless mental blocks a few times as I venture through midlife. When I felt I was spiraling downwards and didn’t know how to stop, I pulled out Glennon Doyle’s book “Untamed“. In her raw and potent words, I found my own truth.
She introduced me to this ferocious, untamed voice inside, which she called the ‘Knowing’. This voice, so full of potential, was always there, but drowned out by fear, self-doubt and that nagging imposter syndrome. Doyle’s own journey of unfurling her ‘cheetah’ – her true, wild self – hit me hard.
In my lower moments, I clung to her story. We are not the ‘tamed’, caged beings our insecurities make us out to be. We are more. Trust me, it’s a revolution, a rebirth. Read her book, it’s great.
